Office Location
3550 Amazonas Drive in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Salary and Benefits
Competitive salary beginning at $80,000 and negotiable commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits package: up to 4% 401k match; 50% employer-paid monthly health insurance premium; vacation, sick leave, vison and dental insurance, and other benefits included.
Job Description
The MASA Director of Communications will work directly with the Executive Director of MASA as well as serve as a collaborative partner with MASA Staff.
Job duties include:
- Develop and execute a communications plan that positively promotes the mission, vision, beliefs and strategic priorities of the association.
- Develop key messages for the association including those related to the motto “Lead-Develop-Support.”
- Provide training to members and their staff to be more effective communicators within their own school district, including “Communication Planning Workshops.”
- Play an integral role in developing, marketing and executing the MASA Spring Conference and other related conferences.
- Develop and maintain a relationship with capital, local and statewide media and assist members in doing the same.
- Assist members with crisis communications and public relations.
- Research: Develop and execute membership surveys.
- Take lead on all publications: writing, design, layout, printing, mailing
- Oversee all website matters including organizing, adding content, etc.
- Oversee social media
Secondary and Ongoing Responsibilities:
- Create videos that market the association and inform key audiences.
- Draft news releases on issues related to public education.
- Represent MASA in meetings as requested.
- Actively participate in the Missouri School Public Relations Association.
- Research and develop communication strategies to meet the goals and objectives of MASA.
Software and Online Proficiencies:
- Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Adobe Suite: InDesign; PhotoShop
- Canva
- Google Suite: Docs, Drive, Forms, Sheets (Much of this knowledge can be applied to Microsoft 365 Suite.)
- iMovie or similar video production
- Photography skills
- Website development
- Blackboard App
- Hootsuite Social Media Organizer
- Facebook, X, LinkedIn
