Overview:

This year-long support program for first-year superintendents will provide a variety of learning opportunities, while also providing a network to enhance your performance as a district leader.  

Invoices for any of these components will not be sent to your new school district until after July 1, 2022, unless otherwise requested.  

This program and its cost are offered in addition to your annual MASA membership dues.

The MASA First-Year Superintendent Support Program consists of two major components:

MASA Administrator Mentoring (AMP) (Cost = $300)

The MASA Mentoring Committee will pair first-year, K-12 superintendents with a mentor for the school year. This program includes 10 hours of face-to-face contact with your mentor.  As part of the process to upgrade your initial certification, this program fulfills the mentoring requirement for DESE.  New K-8 superintendents that have never served as a principal should access a mentor through DESE’s Regional MO Leadership Development Program (MLDS) specialist.  In that case, MASA will be in contact with DESE to help coordinate your K-8 Superintendent / Principal mentor.   Read more .....

MASA Professional Development Opportunities (Total value = $540, see 25% discount offer below**)

1. 1. Finance Workshops (3 @ $60 each)
      1. Setting the Tax-Rate workshop (typically offered in August at the end of DESE Conference)
      2. Evaluating the Budget workshop (typically offered in October in Jefferson City)
      3. Developing Next Year’s Budget workshop (typically offered in March in Jefferson City)

1. 2. Lead, Develop, Support Workshop Series (6 @ $60 each)
      1. Legal Issue Workshops on specific topics.  (3 @ $60 each, typically offered in several locations across the state during late fall).
      2. Board / Superintendent Relations Workshop (1 @ $60 each, typically offered in several locations across the state during the winter).
      3. Personnel Workshop (1 @ $60 each, typically offered in several locations across the state during January/February).
      4. Advanced Leadership Skills Workshop (1 @ $60), 

** Discount Offer: Sign-up now and save 25% off the normal workshop cost.  If you choose to register for all nine of the PD opportunities at the time you sign up for the MASA Administrator Mentoring Program, you will be invoiced a flat fee of $400 (savings of $140).  You may select the workshop sites most convenient for you to attend once the locations are published. Refunds for cancelations are not available.  However, you may fill your registration spot with a designee from your district, if you are unable to attend for any reason.
